Twofold
About Twofold

Three things you should read
before using these tools.

Why we built this, what we do with your data, and what these tools can't do for you.

About this site

Twofold is a relationship workshop, not a therapy clinic. We build structured tools that help couples see patterns, run difficult conversations, and make decisions they don't regret. We are not licensed therapists, counselors, social workers, or healthcare providers.

Why we built it

Most relationship content on the internet is one of three things: a quiz that wants your email, a listicle recycled across 200 sites, or a sales funnel disguised as advice. None of it does the thing couples actually need — which is to slow down enough to see the structure under the friction.

Twofold was built to do that small, specific thing. Twenty-two tools. Each one corresponds to a conversation couples either keep avoiding or keep having badly. Each one does real analysis on what you type, instead of pretending a random number is a "result."

Who built it

Twofold is built and maintained by a small team of writers, designers, and developers who have been in long relationships, short relationships, complicated relationships, and a couple of relationships we'd rather not talk about. None of us are clinicians. All of us have had arguments where, looking back, a simple framework would have helped.

What we believe

  • Most relationship pain is structural, not personal — and structure can be mapped.
  • Tools should do real work on your input, not generate fortune cookies.
  • Saying "this tool won't help" is more valuable than pretending every tool fixes everything.
  • Couples deserve honest framing, not flattery.
  • If a problem is clinical, send people to a clinician — don't DIY-ify it.

What we will not do

  • We won't sell your data. There is no data to sell — see Privacy below.
  • We won't email-bait you. There's no newsletter popup.
  • We won't diagnose your relationship. We won't call it "toxic" or "abusive" based on a quiz.
  • We won't auto-play anything, redirect you anywhere, or open surprise tabs.

What these tools are good for

  • Pre-conversation prep: getting clear on what you actually want to say before you say it.
  • Pattern spotting: noticing the loop you've been stuck in for six months.
  • Decision framing: running a structured process on a choice you've been avoiding.
  • Reflection: a private space to think out loud, with structured prompts instead of a blank page.

What these tools are not good for

  • Replacing a licensed therapist, especially in cases of abuse, addiction, or mental health crisis.
  • Making the call for you on whether to stay or leave a relationship.
  • Solving a problem your partner isn't aware of or hasn't agreed to look at.
  • Forcing a conversation that one of you doesn't want to have.
If you're in crisis

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, suicidal thoughts, or another crisis, please contact a local emergency line or a licensed professional. Twofold is not equipped to help with these situations and we will not pretend otherwise. Resources: Befrienders Worldwide · US Domestic Violence Hotline.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: the day this page was deployed. We will not retroactively change this policy in ways that weaken your privacy without an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this section.

The short version

Twofold does not collect personal data. We do not require accounts. We do not run analytics that follow you across the web. The only data the site stores is in your browser's localStorage, and you can wipe it in one click below. When advertising is shown (Google AdSense), the limited data handled by Google is governed by Google's privacy policy, not ours.

1. What we don't collect

  • No account. No email. No phone number. No name.
  • No "engagement analytics" — we do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, PostHog, Plausible, or any similar tracker.
  • No IP logging on our side.
  • No fingerprinting. No canvas fingerprinting, no font enumeration, no "device ID" tricks.
  • No third-party tracking pixels beyond the advertising platform listed below.

2. What we store on your device (localStorage)

Twofold uses your browser's localStorage only to remember things between your visits on the same device, so the tools work as you'd expect. Specifically:

  • Mood Weather Map entries — your daily 1–10 rating, tags, and notes (stored locally).
  • Appreciation Ratio entries — your positive/corrective counts.
  • Anniversary & Memory Builder dates — the dates and memories you add.
  • Long-Distance Rhythm Builder — your saved schedule.
  • Twofold UI preferences — which tool sections you've expanded, etc.

This data never leaves your device. It is not uploaded to any server. Clearing your browser data deletes it permanently.

3. Google AdSense and third-party advertising

This site displays ads served by Google AdSense. When ads are shown, Google — as a third-party vendor — uses cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You may also opt out of certain third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

Information about Google's privacy practices is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to our website. Users' choices regarding the use of cookies for personalized advertising can be managed through the links above.

4. Cookies we set

  • localStorage entries — described above. These are not HTTP cookies; they're storage scoped to this domain on your device.
  • Google AdSense cookies — set by Google when ads load. We do not control these. Manage via the links in section 3.
  • No first-party tracking cookies are set by Twofold.

5. Children

Twofold is not directed at children under 13 (or under the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect information from children. Some tools here discuss adult relationships; if a minor is using this site, please do so with a parent or guardian's awareness.

6. Your rights

Because we don't collect your data on our servers, most data-subject rights (access, deletion, portability) are satisfied automatically — there is nothing to provide or delete on our end. For data Google holds via AdSense, use Google's own tools.

7. Changes to this policy

If we change anything material about this policy, we will update the date at the top of this section and post a note on the homepage. We will not silently expand what we collect.

Disclaimer

The short version: Twofold is a workshop for reflection and structured conversation. It is not therapy, counseling, medical advice, legal advice, or a substitute for any licensed professional.

What these tools are

  • Educational frameworks, structured prompts, and reflective exercises.
  • Tools to help you think through specific situations in your relationship.
  • Pre-conversation prep that might make a difficult conversation a little easier.

What these tools are not

  • Not therapy. We are not licensed therapists. Nothing here constitutes a therapeutic relationship or clinical assessment.
  • Not counseling. These tools do not replace professional counseling or couples therapy.
  • Not medical or mental health advice. If a situation involves mental health, substance use, abuse, or safety, please contact a licensed professional.
  • Not legal advice. Nothing here is legal advice about marriage, divorce, custody, or domestic relations law. For legal questions, consult a lawyer licensed in your jurisdiction.
  • Not a diagnostic instrument. Scoring, ratings, and analyses are for reflection only. They are not validated clinical instruments and should not be interpreted as diagnoses.

Limits of the analysis

The tools here use pattern-matching, heuristics, and structured scoring. That means they are useful, but they are also:

  • Approximate. A keyword count is not a psychological evaluation.
  • Reflective of what you typed, not necessarily reality. If you forgot to mention something, the tool won't know.
  • Culturally situated. The frameworks here lean toward Western, English-language relationship norms. They may not fit your context, your culture, or your values. If something feels off, trust that feeling over the score.
  • Time-stamped. Your answers today may not match your answers next month. That's normal.

When to seek a professional instead

Please talk to a licensed professional if any of the following apply:

  • You or your partner are in immediate danger.
  • There is any form of abuse — physical, emotional, sexual, financial, or digital.
  • One or both of you are experiencing depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, or substance use.
  • The same argument has happened dozens of times and you cannot resolve it on your own.
  • You are considering separation or divorce and want help thinking through it.
  • Your relationship involves a power imbalance, coercion, or control.

No warranties

The tools and content on Twofold are provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the tools will produce specific outcomes, that they are error-free, or that they are suitable for any particular purpose. Your use of the site is at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Twofold and its operators are not liable for any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the tools or content on this site, including but not limited to direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

Last updated: same as the date at the top of this page. If we make a substantive change to this disclaimer, we will note it on the homepage.

Contact

We read every email. We're a small team, so we may take a few days to reply — especially if you're asking us to fix a tool, which we will.

Replace twofold.example with your real domain before launch. The placeholders are honest — we did not want to silently claim a domain we don't control.
